Mike Simeone was a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved his bike, he loved being a detective with the NYPD, he loved being a boy scout leader, he loved to bowl, he loved his friends, and most importantly: he loved his family. Survived by his wife, Robin, their 6 children and 5 grandchildren, Mike would do anything for them all. He and his wife have matching tattoos that read: SM4L. . .soul mate for life. . . and that is the life they lived. His dedication to his family is well known to everyone, and he often proudly shared photos of himself posed with them. He also leaves behind a brother and 3 sisters who will surely have entertaining stories of their own growing up with Mike.
Mike’s bright smile and infectious laugh permeated every room and every heart. He was the life of the party in a way that put everyone at ease and made them laugh. We often joked that at any given event, Mike’s laugh was heard from the parking lot to the kitchen of every venue. One of his favorite words among his friends was “jocularity” and he brought that with him everywhere. If there was a gathering of human beings and Mike was present, everyone was smiling or laughing. He was kind, good natured, and warm to everyone.
The second love of Mike’s life was riding his bike. He had a large group of friends in the form of HOG and Blue Knight fellow riders and he joined. . .or led them. . . on many a journey around Long Island, upstate, down south, and across country. His “Posse” of Long Island HOG friends would ride in the coldest of temperatures for over 2 hours for a $6 sandwich at Tara’s Inn, and he would love every freezing minute of it. He participated in as many Blue Knight rides as he could, very often engaging in fund raising for fallen fellow officers. He wore his Blue Knight vest proudly and relished riding among his fellow NYPD brethren.
We lost Mike way too soon while he was doing the very thing he loved. Our hearts are broken and our love is poured out to his immediate and extended family with prayers for peace and healing. His life was full of laughter and love and a great many people who adored him. The world will never be the same without him. Rest in Peace with God Dear Brother.
